Ulah & Ali present: Flying Carpet Events

TEAM BUILDING:

Take an exotic ride on a magic carpet.  Experience the exhilaration of transforming into a band of drummers and a troupe of dancers from a land far far away.

Ulah (pro belly dancer) and Ali (pro drummer) will be at your service, together they present a high quality fully interactive corporate experience.

Dressing up is, by it’s nature, a transformative experience.  It’s an opportunity to step outside of your day to day selves. Team members will engage in a new way.

Educational.  This activity is packed full of cultural information.

 

What’s included?

MEET AND GREET

Guests will be greeted with live Arabian music performed by Ulah and Ali.

PRO PERFORMANCE

Using a range of props, such as ‘isis wings’, fan veils, finger cymbals and cane Ulah will put on a show for you all.

TEAM DRUMMING & DANCING

Your group will create a performance together.  Learn to play instruments and dance to conjure up a show fit for Cleopatra.

Play the Arabic drum, tambourine or finger cymbals.   Alternatively have a dance with veils or canes, maybe both!? These instruments and props are steeped in tradition and folklore plus they’re great fun to use.  Ali and Ulah will take your team on a fascinating cultural journey through the Middle East.  Various rhythms and dance styles will be explained and demonstrated which both men and women traditionally engage in.

It is wholly satisfying and invigorating to make music for dancers and conversely to dance to live drumming.

DRESS UP

Your hosts are skilled costumiers.  Selecting from an abundant range of ornate capes, dresses, head-pieces and much more we’ll dress the team to best suit their personalities.  Imagine your colleges as sultans, genies, Afghan princes, harem girls and pharaonic queens!!

STEP INTO THE PICTURE (PHOTO COMPETITION)

Depict a decadent “Orientalism” (art movement) masterpiece!

Ulah and Ali will split the group up into smaller teams.  The participants will need to find a way to co-operate to enable them to create a scene worthy of painting.  The ensemble will be captured as a photograph.  Each team will be armed with a myriad of ornate props such as trays of grapes and ostrich feather fans.  Participants will literally step into the picture (see photo to right).

This allows for changing back out of costumes, so it’s the total time participants are in the ‘activity space’. Can be shorter if required.

MEET & GREET

Guests are welcomed on their way into the reception with dance and live music, 45 min set.

ROAMING / ROVING ENTERTAINMENT

Typically a trio, Ulah plus two percussionists will play and dance mingling with guests who often join in dancing, one or two 45min sets.
